From the Commandant: Don’t go it alone

While we thankfully did not lose a Coast Guard member in the line of duty in 2014, we still endured significant losses to our Coast Guard, our families and our communities. Among the most painful were those lost due to suicide. Unfortunately, there is a negative stigma associated with suicide. But they are moms, dads, friends and coworkers. Most of all, they are people who are missed.


Sexual Assault Prevention Council receives innovation award

In January 2013, the Coast Guard established the Sexual Assault Prevention Council to coordinate efforts toward eliminating sexual assault and harassment within our service. Recently, the council was recognized by the Department of Defense and awarded the Sexual Assault Prevention Innovation Award, which recognizes groups or individuals who contribute an innovative approach or idea to positively impact sexual assault prevention and response programs within the armed forces.
