Dear Colleagues,

On Memorial Day our Nation remembers the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in our armed forces. It is a day to honor the memory of our brave men and women who trained hard, served dutifully, fought, and died to secure our Nation and protect our freedoms.

Some of you will spend this Memorial Day with loved ones and friends; others will visit cemeteries and memorials. I encourage everyone to take some time and join our fellow Americans to reflect on the sacrifices our service members have endured—and continue to endure—on our behalf.

Throughout the wars and conflicts that have shaped our Nation’s history, our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen have gallantly responded when called to duty. We are thankful to our men and women in uniform—past and present—for putting themselves in harm’s way to protect our Nation and our people.

I also thank all of you for your service to our country, and for what you do to keep our Nation safe. Enjoy a safe and happy Memorial Day.
