The Office of Leadership is proud to present the leadership assessment survey. The LAS is a tool that provides commands, teams or staff members a mechanism to gauge command climate and overall effectiveness based on the Coast Guard leadership competencies.

Ms. June Ledwith was selected as the 2017 George R. Putnam (Civilian) Inspirational Leadership Award winner for her outstanding leadership.


Inspire: Chief Warrant Officer Robert Holden

Chief Warrant Officer Robert Holden, the 2017 Master Chief Angela M. McShan (Active Duty) Inspirational Leadership Award winner, shares how he incorporates servant leadership into his life and work and how servant leadership has made him an inspirational leader.


Inspire: Chief Petty Officer Roderick Ansley

Chief Petty Officer Roderick Ansley shares what inspires him to be a great leader. Ansley received the 2017 Munro Inspirational Leadership Award winner for his outstanding leadership while assigned to Air Station Elizabeth City.


Inspire: Lt. Kimberly Angel

Lt. Kimberly Angel was selected as the 2017 Witherspoon (Active Duty) Inspirational Leadership Award winner for her outstanding leadership while assigned to the Coast Guard Command, Control, and Communications Engineering Center (C3CEN) in Portsmouth, Virginia.


Inspire: Cmdr. Andrew Brown

Cmdr. Andrew Brown was selected as the 2017 Jarvis Inspirational Leadership Award winner for his outstanding leadership during his tour as executive officer of Coast Guard Base Boston over calendar year 2016. Brown worked tirelessly to foster an environment of collaboration amongst a diverse team through team building events, strengthening the unit’s Leadership and Diversity Advisory Council, and by addressing military and civilian concerns.


Inspire: Lt. Cmdr. Robyn Swan

Lt. Cmdr. Robyn Swan, the executive officer of Port Security Unit 309, is the second of eight members that will be highlighted in the Inspire blog series. Swan is the recipient of the 2017 Witherspoon Reserve Inspirational Leadership for navigating her unit through a member’s suicide, a sexual assault case, and the high operational tempo demands during the Republican National Convention.


Inspire: Coast Guard Auxiliarist Gene Little

Flotilla Commander, Coast Guard Auxiliarist Gene Little from the Ninth District, Eastern Region, is the first of eight members that will be highlighted in the Inspire blog series. Little is the recipient of the 2017 Greanoff Inspirational Leadership Award. The Greanoff Award recognizes flotilla commanders who have demonstrated exemplary performance while sustaining exceptional standards of proficiency, conduct, and impeccable bearing. Little initiated succession programs, mentored members, promoted recreational safety, educated children, and recruited highly qualified members into the Auxiliary. For these and many more of his accomplishments, Little was this year’s Greanoff Inspirational Leadership Award Winner.
