Human Capital Strategy: Enlisted Assignment Priority Survey

Make your voice heard! The Assignment Priority Survey has been sent to all enlisted E-4 to E-9 via email. Assignment Priorities haven’t been changed in 18 years. It is imperative that you provide your feedback to help this effort! The Assignment Priority survey is only 12 questions and can be completed in 5-10 minutes. It is due by Dec. 31, 2016. Human Capital Strategy: Changes to the Officer Evaluation System

The Officer Evaluation System (OES) Review was an initiative under the Commandant’s Human Capital Strategy (HCS), and the main goal was to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the evaluation process and system. As a result of this review, all OER forms for junior officers, senior officers and warrant officer have been shortened and many requirements have been eliminated to improve the ease with which supervisors can report on their subordinates. The active duty and the reserve officer corps as well as civilian supervisors of military officers must become informed of these changes and the new guidelines for evaluating officers. Parental leave for Coast Guard families: Time for the family to bond

In February 2016, the Coast Guard extended its maternity leave policy from six weeks to 12 weeks. In order to ensure the policy is achieving its objectives, the Commandant has tasked the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (CG-12B) to undertake an assessment of the maternity leave policy as an initiative under the Human Capital Strategy (HCS). Many initiatives under the HCS have the objective of making changes that matter to not only our active duty and reserve service members, but also to our civilian contingent. As we share new policies coming out of the HCS, we hope that you will subscribe to the All Hands blog and the Paratus Report to get the latest updates on how the Coast Guard is working to fulfill its Duty to People. Blended Retirement System: Mandatory training for all E-6 and above

Are you current on the new Blended Retirement System? Do you have all of the information you need to answer your subordinate’s questions? Fear not! The BRS Leader Training is mandatory for all E-6 and above and civilian supervisors to ensure leadership is properly prepared to assist their people in understanding they have a decision to make; either opting into the new Blended Retirement System or remaining in the Legacy Retirement System.
